Humla Limi Valley Trek is named after people living in the Limi Valley Tibetan word. Le means land between two rivers in Tibetan and Mi means people or situated land. Later on some kind of mispronounced and written like Limi. According to the their history, Long time ago many Tibetan come to do the business between Nepal and Tibet border and some Tibetan traders settled in that area for the purpose of better transportation and business. Since they are settled in between two great rivers so its carried them by “Le-Mi” and later that name derived to area. Limi has strong tie with Tibetan community on traditional culture. There is a long tradition of trade and cultural exchange between this part of Nepal and Tibet. Far West Limi Valley Trek is gorgeous off the beaten trekking in Dolpo Nepal is a strenuous trek starting from Simikot and goes via Hilsa into Limi Valley. It consists of three villages, Til, Halji, and Jang. This trek is about being a part of positive change in the world. Limi valley trail takes us to the remotest and rugged yet most impoverished regions. This valley is a ‘Hidden Himalayas’ of northwest Nepal.
Limi valley Trek will reach deep within Himalayas of Humla. You will have an experience these rich and varied cultures as you trek over 16,000 ft passes. You will pass through remote villages, and explore the ancient monasteries of Limi Valley. If luck favor, you will also get the chance to spot the elusive snow leopard, Jharal (Himalayan blue sheep). Jackals, kiang (Tibetan wild ass), and musk deer are some other species of Animals. This valley houses the Shangri-La myth as well. Here we do several restorations works to preserve one of Nepal’s last true jewels.You can also enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains Mt. Saipal, Byas, Rishi, Mt. Api, Mt. Haliji is the largest village in Limi valley; more than 800 years old historical monastery is another attraction of this village and even now this old Buddhist monastery. People in the valley are sustained by simple agriculture and traditional way of trading across the border of wooden handicrafts and hand made goods are main source of income after Tourism. Humla district headquarter is Simikot. Limi Valley trek starts following Karnali river and stay mostly on the ancient salt trade route throughout the trek. It goes to the Tibet boarder and then retraces back to Simikot via a different route, adding more excitement to this already majestic adventure.

Flight to Nepalgunj, drive to Surkhet 3 hours, Early morning we catch a flight to Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj, we take a drive of 3 hours to reach Surkhet
Flight to Simikot 2,950 m, trek to Dharapuri 4 hours, Early morning we catch a scenic flight to Simikot then start our trek to Dharapuri. The cattle carry the load for the people in this part of the world because there are no other modes of transport
Trek Dharapuri to Kermi 2,670 m 4 hours, we will start our journey following the Karnali River. Kermi is a small agricultural, Buddhist village. We will visit two ancient Buddhist monasteries Laikyo Gompa and Lhundrup Choeling Gompa
Trek Kermi to Yalbang 3,020 m 5 hours, Trekking to Yalbang is a flat & steep ascent. We will cross a small pass and an iron suspension bridge over the Sali River. We will visit Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery and a clinic in the monastery.
Trek Yalbang to Tumkot 3,380 m / 5 hours, The path leaves the Karnali River below when it reaches the tiny village of Yang. In the afternoon, after reaching Tumkot, we visit Dhungkar Choezom Monastery. It is one of the most important Sakya monasteries in the Tibetan region.
Trek Tumkot to Yari 3,700 m 5 hours, It will not be long before you feel the change in climate, vegetation, and landscape. The trees that you see are not pine trees anymore. They are now short and low junipers.
Trek Yari to Hilsa via Nara La 4,620 m 3,720 m 6 hours, Today is a tough day as we cross the first pass of the trek. After crossing the 4,620m Nara La pass, we can see the vast land of Tibet. The breathtaking view of Tibet on the one side and a spectacular view of Yari Village down below. From here on, it is a shaky descent down until we find ourselves standing in the border of Nepal and Tibet
Trek Hilsa to Manepeme 3,990 m 5 hours, This trail follows the Karnali River in the eastern direction up to Manepeme. You walk in a dramatic landscape of bare, steep rocks of amazing colors.
Trek Manepeme to Til 4,000 m, 6 hours,The trail climbs on and winds its way through the high, steep rocks. Between a small and wider path, we follow the small path since as it passes a meditation cave, Ya Yip Phuk.Til is one of the most beautiful Tibetan villages in Limi Valley.
Trek Til to Jang, via Halji 3,660 m 3,930 m 7 hours, We enter the Halji village passing a gate with Chörten. After which a very big mani wall or, low wall with many stones. On this wall holy mantra’s and Buddhist deities, appear
Today Acclimatization day will give us time for a sightseeing tour. You can enjoy excursion towards the village of Jang.
Trek Jang to Talung 4,370 m 8 hours, During this trail, there won’t be any more villages until Kermi. You will be walking through impressive, completely desolate landscapes.
Trek to Shinjungma via Nyalu La 8 hours, Today is the second spectacular pass of our trek. It’s a very tough climb, yet rewarding to reach the highest point of the trek. We will reach the Nyalu La, at 4,940 meters. We then descend downhill to Shinjungma
Trek Shinjungma to Kermi 2,670 m 7 hours, It’s a pleasant walk through pine and birch forests. You will walk along the beautiful Sali Khola, with rocks towering on both sides of the trail. In the afternoon we visit Laikyo Gompa and Lhundrup Choeling Gompa.
Trek Kermi to Simkot 2,950 m 7 hours, The day begins with a few ups and downs along the road until we reach Simikot.
