Dolpo region is an enormous part of western Nepal. It covers 15% of the total area of Nepal. Cut off by a series of very high passes, closed by snow most of the year; Dolpo truly remains an isolated corner of Nepal. In spite of its huge geographical coverage, this region has very little population with no definite numbers but an estimation of 5,000 to 18,000. It is a hidden valley believed to be created by a Buddhist deity for his worshipers.
Shey Phoksundo National Park:
Dolpo region is located inside the Shey Phoksumdo National Park of mid-western Nepal, behind the North side of the Dhaulagiri massif towards the Tibetan plateau.
