How to use International Flights to reach Nepal for Everest View Trekking:

Whilst Kathmandu lacks direct flights to most of Europe, Africa, North and South America and Australia, the airport is well connected and it is usually possible to reach Kathmandu with only one change of flight, in most cases using the same airline.

How much does it Cost of Domestic Flights for Lukla to be Everest View Point:

Prices for domestic flights are two tier. Nepalese citizens pay significantly less than foreign visitors. A flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for example, is the equivalent of USD 95 for Nepalis but USD 217 for foreign nationals. While flights can be booked with your travel agent, it's always secure then online.

Baggage Handlers & Concerns:

Your luggage is vulnerable entering and leaving this airport. Do not keep anything of value in checked bags, and if you lock the bag, the zipper may be forced open and broken. There is little to no security for your bags. You should also be aware that most luggage is treated quite poorly in Nepalese airports. It is recommended that all fragile and valuable items be kept in your carry on luggage.

Be aware that when you collect your luggage, an "airport baggage cart collector" may appear and assist you with a baggage trolley. Unless you insist on handling your own baggage, your items will be loaded on the trolley and will be conveyed with you to the entrance of the terminal. You will then be expected to pay a tip to this person. Arriving just beforehand in Nepal, you will often only have larger denomination foreign currency in your pocket, making the issue of a tip a bit of a problem. It's fine to pay the tip in foreign currency but make sure you have some small bills or coins on hand (even a dollar or two will be significant to Nepalis).

Money Exchange at the Airport:

Try not to exchange money at the airport as there are service charges and lower rates offered than what you can get in Thamel or elsewhere in the city. If you Exchange your Money with us, you can definitely get better rates than Money Exchange so before going to your trip ask , our responsible person of the Company. If you keep the exchange receipt, you could change back to your original currency at the rate on the receipt

Trekking Team:

Being homeland of Himalayas, it’s obvious to have challenging routes, dangerous weather, health issues; any of these situations is enough to ruin your trip. Leading around the steeply hills and rocky routes is not a job of common climbers and trekkers. Himalayan Magic Treks have been providing native leaders and staffs working in this field perfectly since many years to overcome tough challenges and make your trip a golden memory. Our Guides are trained and well certified by the Government of Nepal. Our staffs have received proper emergency guidance and evacuation education in the Himalayas. They are also entirely aware of correct knowledge of first aid to the victims. We have never and will never compromise on the safety to our clients; therefore, we provide insurance and medical services during the trek and compensation when they needs.

What is The Best Season For Everest View Trek :

Autumn (September - November) and spring (March - May) is the best season for trekking and mountaineering in Nepal. Weather is mostly clear and temperature is moderate in these seasons which offer beautiful views without any obstruction. Spring grants you beautiful flowers, plants and rare animals. Walking is favorable during these seasons. Summer (June - August) and winter (December - February).

Though summer has heavy monsoon rainfall, it is very much clearer to trek around Upper Mustang TrekUpper Dolpo Trek and Nar Phu Valley Trek , Manaslu Circuit TrekKanchenjunga Trek since they are rain shadow areas. Everest  View Trek, Langtang Trek, Annapurna Trekking as well as Tibet trek are always better to trek in winter season.

Experience & Fitness:

Trekking can be challenging and exhausting. So you might need some fitness training and experience for some tough trial. Nepal Trekking in Everest Base Camp does not require past experience or extreme fitness even though we have more challenging routes in different region compared to that of Everest. Trekking in Himalayas always takes us to challenging altitudes and rocky routes. You could ask for proper rest time and acclimatization to sustain your strength. Mountains can never be achieved in a day. We always provide the detail in our itinerary. However certain training like running, skipping and other workouts will definitely be beneficial in such challenging routes.

Acclimatization in The Mountain:

Altitude sickness is a major risk when trekking. You might experience it on any trails above 2,500 m however; good health, proper care and drinking plenty of water will definitely help you to prevent from altitude sickness. Every trekkers needs to be familiar with the heights and altitude so, for this we have life saving appropriate acclimatization days during the trek, We also provide certain medical support for your relief and emergency rescue through helicopter whenever the situation gets worse.

Eco Friendly:

Our only goal in the Himalayas is to leave the memories and foot prints; Himalayan Magic Treks is concerned on environment pollution issue and global warming. We are always serious and genuine about our garbage during the trek especially during camping. We collect the rubbish and dump it to the proper place to protect our environment and also appeal our clients to do the same. We partake in every program conducted in KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project) and other environmental conservation programs. We want to promote Safe environment act and stand against pollution & global warming.

Tailor Made Itinerary:

Sometimes trekking in the Himalayan region passes through unexpected complication like natural calamity, health challenges and many other problems that might result to the changes of the itinerary. So, we kindly request you to cooperate with your guide and the team in such situation.

My trip to Nepal

Dates: From September 24 to October 16 2013

Itinerary: Kathmandu, Lukla, Phakding , Namche Bazar, Khumjung, Lukla, Chaurikharka, Bupsa, Basa (volunteering), Phaplu, Sete, Kenja,  Deurali, Jiri, Kathmandu. (I need to check these against my notes )

My experience:I decided to go to Nepal on a bit of a whim. My good friends Suzanne and George had convinced me that I would love it and that the people at Himalayan Magic Treks were the best to help me plan my trip. Everyone (including me!) was surprised when I decided on September 2 to leave on September 22!I e-mailed Himalayan Magic Treks and by the next morning I had received an itinerary, including a guide and a porter and a week of teaching English in the remote village of Basa had been arranged.  I confirmed my flights with Gopal and he assured me that my guide was the best (his son, Gadjendra), my porter was the best (their good friend, Gaurab). The guide, porter, accommodations, meals and coffee were all included in the price.

When I arrived at the airport in Kathmandu I was tired and a bit nervous, but as soon as I stepped out the airport doors, Gopal and Gadjendra were there to welcome me! Not only did they have a garland of flowers and a Himalayan Magic Treks sign, they also had a car and driver waiting and a hotel and dinner booked. From those first hours, when I took a warm shower in Kathmandu and had a nice dinner with Gopal, I felt confident that I would be well taken care of. Little did I know how well!

During the entire duration of this amazing trip, I was never asked to pay for any lodging or food during the hikes. Gadjendra discreetly and effectively took care of all the negotiations, bookings, last minute changes to my itinerary, ordering meals and even tea and coffee. Gaurab took my bag up to my room at every new tea house and picked it up in my room at every departure. Gaurab and Gadjendra never let me out of their sight unless I was happily chatting with a friend of theirs or had retired to my room. On the trails they made sure that we stayed together. In contrast to other tourists, who relied on their maps and good senses, we never got lost. When we arrived in Basa, I was warmly welcomed by my hosts and their children as well as by the school and the community. Needless to say that our arrival had been tracked along the trails of the Himalaya for a few days!

At the school I soon found that these beautiful children would learn very little from me without some help from an interpreter. Gadjendra was amazing! We gave classes together and, to a very large extent, he spent as much energy and time as I did – both in the classroom and in preparations. The trek out of the Himalaya, from Basa to Jiri was as sad as it was wonderful. By then Gadjendra, Gaurab and I were good friends. We had fun hiking and we took a lot of pictures! We hung our numerous prayer scarves on bridges and near stupas at the top of the trails.

We arrived in Jiri in the rain and were told by many tourists that it was impossible to get a bus to Kathmandu, but by then I was confident in Himalayan Magic Treks ability to do anything. Within an hour, Gadjendra and Gaurab had us booked in a compact van to Kathmandu at 6 am the next day. A much smoother ride than in the big crowded busses!
In Kathmandu, Gopal met us at the (very nice!) hotel and invited me to eat at his home. Gadjendra - who must have been exhausted by then! – came with me back to Tamil district to shop for souvenirs and ensure that I got the best deals. We then all went to dinner at a traditional Nepalese restaurant.
Gopal and Gadjendra were even there to see me off at the airport at 7 the next morning. My heart was heavy as I boarded the plane and still is more than a week later.
Without Gadjendra I would have experienced Nepal as an isolated outsider miming my way to ensuring my survival. With his patient, gracious and generous help, I was able to be a guest in local family homes, sit around the fire and listen to grandmothers and grandfathers tell stories and give advice. I was able to play with the kids and have very enriching conversations with community leaders. With Gadjendra as a tireless interpreter and cultural guide, I made a lot of friends!
By the end of my time in Basa my heart was full of these bright children’s laughter and smiles. I had learnt a few words of Nepali and they had learnt (to their credit) an impressive amount of English. I felt like Basa had let me in and shared a part of its self with a clumsy tourist. To know the magic of Nepal, you have to have been there. It would not be fair of me to try to explain the wind, the cucumbers, the children playing, the cool clear night sky or the fireflies. Nor could I ever do justice to the sight of a snowy peak at the end of a long climb or to the sound of clear rushing rivers roaring under a foot bridge.

To have been there is to carry Nepal in your heart.

Thanks to Himalayan Magic Treks I had a life-changing experience in Nepal. I will never forget the new friends I made and I will forever be grateful to Gadjendra, Gaurab and Gopal for making it all happen!
Danyabad!
