Koshi Tappu Wildlife Safari (Reserve) is preserve area that lies in the eastern Nepal with an area of 175 km2 (68sq m) of wetlands in the Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur District. It is ranges from with an altitude of 75 to 81 m (246 to 266 ft) and compose of vast mudflats, reed beds and freshwater Marshes in the floodplain of the Sapta Koshi River. It was established in 1976 that is designated as a Ramsar site in 1987.
A study of the reserve was conducted between 1997-1978 by the Central Department of Zoology, Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu. That study discovered serious conflict between wildlife and the local people living contiguous to the reserve. Local habitants suffered from crop depredation and animal harassment whereas the reserve mangers had the problem of poaching, cattle grazing and other illegal activities in the reserve. This survey has several recommendations such as recommendations promotion of tourism towards the reservation with the help of trained (by the wildlife exports) local tourist guides.
The vegetation of the reserve is mostly classified by mixed deciduous riverine forest, grassland and marshy vegetation. The coverage of grassland is 68% compared to only about 6% of forest that is predominate by Sisao, spot of Khair forest are more prevalent towards the North-West part. The Sapta Koshi River is a tributary of the Ganges, causes rapid and extreme flooding during the rainy season. Where we can find the vast wetlands, 514 species of plants including Kapok, Sugarcane, Reed, Cattail, Impetrate Cylindrical, Eelgrass and Species of Eichoirnia, Azolla , Lotus and Hydrilla as well as the various ponds, 200 species of fish, two Toad species, Nine frog species, Six Lizard species, Five Snake and 11 Turtle species, Gharial and Mugger crocodile are recorded.
Mammals: 31 species of mammals can be found such as the Asian Elephant, Spotted Deer, Hog Deer, Wild Pig, Smooth-Coated Otter and Golden Jackal. The Ganges River Dolphin has been sighted in the Koshi River whereas Gaur and Blue Bull have decrease in numbers. Nepal’s last remaining population of around 150 water Buffalo known as Arna inhabits of this area.
Birds: Notable among the 485 different species of birds are Weathercocks, Indian Nightjar, Dusky Eagle Owl, Black-Headed Cuckoo Shrike, White tailed stonechat, striated grass bird, large adjutant stork, Palla’s Fish Eagle, Common Golden-Eye and Gull Billed Tern, Bengal Florican, Swamp Francolin and Nepal refocus-vented Prinia occur as well.

We get paradise of food especially in the cities areas especially in Katmandu. There are a lot of restaurants with different cuisine in city but during the trek we get to eat from Continental and Nepali menu especially choices like Pasta, Pizza, Mo. Mo, soup items, Potatoes items, Dal Bhat, Hot drinks Tea & Coffee etc
We are very much concern about the comfort of our guest and whenever it is about the staffs in the mountains field. When we are on trek through challenging routes we need proper number of workers like Guide, porter, assistance guide, Camping crew and other staffs. We provide 1 assistance guide with every 4 - 8 guests and 2 assistance guide with 9 guests. We do need strong porters to carry our guest weights, We provide 1 porters for 2 guest depending on guest stuff and we allow only 25 kg for a porter. We will have professional Guide, Leader and City guide in the field and can speak an English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean languages.
Security is our primary concern! From your beginning day (we will be there to pick you up with our staffs and identity) to departure date (airport drop services) we are always there to help you. We have proper remedial services during the trek with professional staffs; first aid kit, oxygen bag and Helicopter service for emergency rescue whenever trekkers get physical Loss or altitude sickness. We have focused more on acclimatization days to get rid of altitude sickness too.
Autumn (September - November) and Spring (March - May) is the best trekking season for the trekking and mountaineering in Nepal. Weather is mostly clear and temperature is moderate which offers beautiful views without any obstruction. Spring collects beautiful flowers, plants and rare animals Walking is also very much suitable during this season. Summer (June - August) and Winter (December - February). Though Summer collects heavy monsoon rainfall it is very much clear to trek around Upper Mustang Trek, Upper Dolpo Trek and Nar- Phu valley Trek since they are rain shadow areas. Tibet is much more favorable for Tibet Everest Base Camp Trek. Everest Gokyo Lake Trek, Langtang Gosaikunda Trek and Annapurna Tilicho Lake Trek are always comfortable to trek even in winter season.
Trekking in Nepal for Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek does not require past experience, though we have challenging route in Everest compared to Annapurna our itinerary suggests to walk comfortable distances. Trekking in Himalayas always takes us to challenging altitudes and rocky routes, demands proper rest time and acclimatization to sustain their strength. We always have both listed properly in our itinerary. However certain training like Running, Skipping and other workout will definitely help you in roots.
Altitude sickness is a significant risk when trekking on any trails above about 2,500 m. However good health, proper care and drinking plenty of water will definitely help you to prevent from altitude sickness. Every trekkers needs to be familiar with the heights so, for this we have life saving acclimatization days during the trek, peak climbing and expedition. We also provide certain medical support for your relief and emergency rescue through helicopter whenever guest require.
We only leave foot prints. We are very much concerning agency to protect environment pollution and Global Warming. We are always serious and genuine towards our garbage during the trek especially in Camping. We collect all the rubbish and deposit it to proper place to protect environment clean. We also partake in every program conducted in KEEP Kathmandu Environmental Education Project. We also suggest all travelers to protect our environment and Stop Global Warming.
