Manaslu(8,156m) is taken from the Sanskrit word Manasa which means Intellect or Soul. It is the same word that is the root of the name of the sacred lake Manasarover near to Mt. Kailash in Tibet. Manaslu is situated in the Nepal at the flat place, describing the mountain’s general summit. It was first ascend by T. Imanishi & g. Norbu in 1956.It has always been a Japanese mountain and based on the 2002 record, there were 175 submitter, 120 expeditions and 49 were deaths.

Nowadays, there is half of a dozen various routes on the way of Manaslu route. The South Face of this Mountain of intellect is perhaps the strenuous in climbing history. Our Caravan route takes off at Sama Gaon, where remotely Makalu is called as Kambung after a local god. It was during the self same village back in 1954 that the second Japanese expedition met with bitter resistance from the locals. The villagers of Sama Gaon told them that the first team was responsible for avalanche which had destroyed a monastery, so that they refused to let them to climb then the expedition set off to climb the Ganesh Himal.

Despite of having large donation to reconstruct the monastery, Subsequent, Japanese expeditions including the one that made the first ascent in 1956, took place in an atmosphere of animosity and mistrust. The second successful Japanese expedition was in 1971 as well as there was South Korean attempt in 1971 and in April 1972 an avalanche which appeared in the death of five climbers and 10 Sherpa ended the second South Korean Expedition. Reinhold Messier had made the fourth ascent of Manaslu as a member of a Tyrolean expedition, ascended the peak from the Marsyangdi Valley in 1972.
