Shivapuri Botanical Trek Consists of Himalayan subtropical broad leaf forests in the lower and upper subtropical bio-climatic zone dominated by Schema Castanopsis associations, with cheer pine stands on southern dry ridges and association of alder, wild Himalayan Cherry and ring-cupped oak through Stream. Eastern Himalayan broad-leaf forests in the lower temperate bio- climatic zone with mostly broad-leaf evergreen species of Oak and Laurel families mixed with rhododendron on northern slopes. Lying at higher altitude a variety of medicinal herbs prosper. Concerning Zoologist recorded, we can find 129 different types of Mushroom and 2,122 floral species out of them 449 are vascular and 16 are the native plants.
Shivapuri Botanical Trekking includes various kind of wild animal such as Himalayan Black bear cub, since 2002 several survey were carried out to determine the Fauna diversity of the protected area. During the in the field of study was held from July 2003 to July 2004 that carried out various kinds of wild animals such as Indian Leopard, Jungle Cat, Large Indian Civet, Golden jackal, Himalayan Black Bear, yellow-Threatened Marten, Small Asian mongoose, Himalayan Ghoral , Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Rhesus Monkey Hanuman languor, Chinese pangolin, Indian Crested porcupine, Himalayan squirrel, Fawn-colored mouse, Brown-toothed shrew and Black rat etc were recognized . At the same time sign of the Clouded Leopard and Leopard cat were not observed during the research.
In the western part of the park, encountered experienced Monocled cobra, Olive Oriental Slender Snake, Yellow-bellied Worm-Eating Snake, Variegated mountain lizard, oriental garden lizard, Long-legged Cricket frog and horned frog were found during summer season of 2009. As well as the Ornithologist has recorded 318 species of birds including Eurasian eagle-owl, Slender-billed Scimitar-babbler, White-gorged flycatcher, barred cuckoo-dove.
